Glasshouse Fragrances

FAQS

Why aren’t diffusers and candles available in the same fragrances?

Each fragrance is designed to suit a particular product. Not all fragrances perform to their optimal level in all products. We simply are not comfortable releasing a product that does not meet our high standards.

Are refills available for the diffusers or the candle container?

Not at present, but keep in mind your candle jar can be washed and used for other things like cotton buds and spices, or recycled. Use your Fragrance Diffuser sticks to scent your fabrics in a drawer or linen cupboard. Your diffuser bottle can also be recycled.

What kind of wax and wicks are used in Glasshouse candles?

Glasshouse uses 100% cotton lead free wicks and non-toxic, food grade wax. Our wax is very safe to burn – even in the presence of babies and individuals with allergies.

Why does fragrance diffuser liquid discolour?

The fragrance diffuser solution will oxidise after it has been opened. The perfume in the diffuser interacts with oxygen which can affect its colour – just like a sliced apple changes colour when exposed to the air.

Can I buy Glasshouse products direct or online?

Glasshouse products are currently sold through a select group of retailers only. To find a retailer near you click on the Glasshouse Stockists page.

Which Candles have the strongest fragrance when burning?

All Glasshouse candles are strong enough to fill a normal size bedroom with fragrance. If not, we simply do not release them. However, within the range there are several fragrances which are very robust and will fill several rooms, or the upstairs and downstairs of a home for example. If this is what you want try fragrances such as Tahaa, Montego Bay, Esperance, Sistine Chapel, Skye, Kakadu, Aspen, Bordeaux, Strasbourg and Oahu.

Why is there a black residue around the rim of my candle jar?

A candle wick requires trimming between burns or if the candle has been burning continuously for three or more hours. The wicks should be trimmed to about 1/2 cm from the wax, only then will the candle stop emitting carbon - the black residue. If there is black residue on the glass of your candle jar, dampen a piece of paper towel and wipe clean.

My candle is not burning properly. What should I do?

Always make sure that both wicks are lit when using you candle. If you are still having problems such as one wick will not stay lit, look to see if the wick has been trimmed too short (less than ½ cm). If so, keep lighting the wick that is too short or perhaps remove some of the liquid wax . If that does not work or your candle is burning straight down the middle and leaving more than 10mm of wax on the sides of the jar, contact us so we can help.

How long will Glasshouse products last?

Whenever possible, keep Glasshouse products stored in a cool, dark place as light and heat destroy fragrance and discolour the product. If stored correctly, Candles will last about two years, Fragrance Diffusers five years, Nourishing Body Bars two years, Hand Cremes 18 months.
